Music
Ministry

  • ADULT CHOIR

The choir is under the direction of Leisha Smith.  Our membership includes trained singers, as well as those who had never read music before joining the choir.

From September through early June, the choir rehearses on Thursday evenings, 7:00 to 8:30 PM at St Catherine's  and sings each weekend at the Sunday morning Masses, though we also have need for singers at the 5 PM Mass.

The Adult Choir also sings for all of the major liturgical celebrations of the Church year.

  • CHILDREN'S CHOIR

We are so graeful for the participation of our children in choir for Mass. Practices are most Thursdays at 3 PM at St Joan of Arc. The children's choir is under the direction of Leisha Smith.

  • CANTORS

Cantors support the singing of the congregation alone or in small groups.

These are needed at all Masses

Contact Leisha Smith lsmith@scsjcluster.org for more information.

  • INSTRUMENTALISTS

Instrumentalists help bring the accompaniment of our liturgical music to life.  If you play flute, oboe, trumpet, violin, or another instrument, and would like to get involved in the Music Ministry, please contact us.

  • BELL CHOIR

Our bell choir is under the direction of Leisha Smith. They practice Thursdays at St Catherine's at 6 PM.

Please contact Leisha Smith for more information lsmith@scsjcluster.org

  • FUNERAL CHOIR

We are always in need of singers for funerals. Our cluster funeral choir helps to serve in this way.  Please reach out if you are willing and able to serve. The funeral choir generally practices at a scheduled time shortly before the funeral.

Altar Servers

Altar Servers may be children (3rd grade and older) or adults.  The role of the Altar Server is integral to the normal celebration of Mass.  They enhance our liturgies through their assistance to the priest, and by their good example to the worshipping assembly in their responses and participation during Mass.  Becoming an Altar Server is also a wonderful way for youth and adults alike to learn and grow in their appreciation of our rich Catholic liturgical tradition.

Environment

With the change of each liturgical season, the church environment needs to change as well. It changes throughout the Church year, depending on the season or liturgical celebration, i.e. Ordinary Time, Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter.  Especially in preparation for major seasons such as Christmas and Easter, extra help is always welcome. Changes include the theme of fabric colors, flowers and other decorations.  Sometimes we recreate what we have done in the past and sometimes it changes based on that church year’s readings. Committee members meet as needed.

Eucharistic Ministers

The distribution of Holy Communion is part of the Church’s public worship and a ministry that is recognized by the Church. In addition to the general guidelines for those ministering in the parish, those who minister Communion have an appreciation and reverence for the Eucharist and strive to “be” the Body of Christ through service and outreach in the community. If you would like to learn more about becoming a Eucharistic minister, please contact the appropriate parish office.

Lectors

Lectors are parishioners who proclaim the Scripture readings at Masses and other Liturgical celebrations. Those who minister as Lectors should possess the ability to prepare and proclaim the Scriptures for a large number of people, be committed to regular reading of the Scripture in their daily life, and be available to attend scheduled meetings and formational events. Please contact our parish offices to serve as a lector.

Prayer Requests

One hallmark of a caring community is a praying community. In prayer, we can rejoice together with our members' prayers of thanksgiving. We can share our concern or sorrow with our members' prayers of petition in times of need or mourning. Recent requests for the community are linked here.
